Singapore is a southeast Asin island. It has 58 other smaller islands. Its also one of the worlds smallest countries. Government is a Parliamentary republic. Singapore attracted chinese settlers now 77 of the population because of a trade center. Singapore is also the worlds busiest container port. The population is only around five million. Once Singapore was covered with rain forests, now the island has highways, factories, office buildings, and docks. The country was also founded by the british in the 1800s. Most of the people are chinese. Four million of them are, but Malaysians and Indians take up 25% of the population. Singapore also has many cleaning rules.

Singapore is a very small country. Singapore's main territory is a diamond shaped island Pulau Ujong. Singapore has no natural lakes, but water chatchment areas have been constructed to store fresh water. Singapore's climate is classified as tropical rainforest. June, July, and August are the best months to visit Singapore.


Singapores population is around 5 million. 4 million of them are chinese, but about 25% of the population is Malaysian and Indian. ( Chinese 74.2% Malaysians 13.4% Indians 9.2%)

There are many festivals celebrated in Singapore because of a diverse culture and because of people from different ethnic groups. Some of the holidays are: Buddhist Vesak Day, Chinese New Year, Hindu Diwali and Muslim Ed ul-Fitr.

Singapore has four languages recognised by the Singapore government: English (the most widely spoken language), Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Though the national language remains Malay English is used as a working language for business.
