November 2019
Principal's Message
Dear Parents,
As always our fall schedule continues to be very busy. As we closed out the month of October with our inside Halloween parade, we opened the month of November with the end of our first marking period. Parent/Teacher conferences were very well attended and we always look forward to seeing parents take an interest in their child(ren)’s learning.
Our second week of November brought us to Veterans Day. We welcomed five of our local veterans who visited classrooms and spoke of their experiences while serving our country. Pat Bartelson read her book, Molly the Marine to our 1st and 2nd grade students, while Allan Martin, Bob Cesario, Lee Garrity and Keith Wall visited the 3rd grade classes. Throughout the remainder of the month and in keeping with this year’s school theme of Make a Difference, students met with their peer buddies to create holiday cards that will be sent over to those who are currently serving. On Monday, 11-25-19 students may bring in Santa Hats and Stockings that will also be filled and shipped out.
The PTO Scholastic Book Fair was a huge success. We thank the PTO for dedicating their time to run this event and to all of you for your support.
Each day we accumulate a collection of coats, jackets, hats, gloves, etc.that students have left behind. If your child is missing something, you are welcome to stop in while dropping off or picking up to see if you can locate a missing item.
In cooperation with the Gloucester City Boy Scouts, there will be a collection box in the lobby for anyone who would like to donate holiday canned goods. These items will go to the Gloucester City Food Pantry.
When dropping off your child in the morning, please note that children should not be left unattended. Doors open at 8:15 AM each day.
We have 2 Spirit days in the upcoming month of December. Please remember to check our web site for the Spirit Day schedule. It can be found in the “Calendar” drop down menu.
Just a friendly reminder that Wednesday, 11-27-19 is an early dismissal day. Please refer to the web page for official dismissal times. District schools will be closed on 11-28-19 and 11-29-19 in celebration of the Thanksgiving weekend.
At this time I would like to wish all of our Cold Springs School families a very
Happy Thanksgiving!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Karen Kessler, Principal
