Indian Knoll Elementary

Letter from the Principal

Firebird Families,

I am excited to welcome you to Indian Knoll Elementary School. The PTA and the School Administration are working collaboratively to provide you and your children with a positive and memorable year. We are busy planning events and rigorous curriculum activities. In the month of August, we will welcome you back with Curriculum Nights and the Back to School Bash.

All students and teachers will also join a new BIRD HOUSE this year! We will have our class reveal with a special guest soon after school starts. Your children will earn DOJO points again for positive behavior and exemplary character once again! Our celebrations will continue with quarterly house recognitions, honor roll assemblies, and Fire Bird Feather compliments. This year KINDNESS will be a consistent and pervasive theme at the school. You will notice that we will have a variety of events and activities where we teach compassion, acceptance, and a sense of community. Our goal is to partner with the district and their Social Emotional Learning (SEL) focus to make sure that all children feel valued and supported.

I encourage you to be involved in the school through active participation and PTA volunteer efforts. We are excited about the future and all this year will bring. Thanks in advance for your support.

Mrs. Kim Cerasoli

Helping Our Teachers With Back to School!

We kicked off the school year with a pre planning luncheon for our wonderful teachers and staff! Teaching staff were awarded mini grants from PTA to help out with much needed resources for their classrooms.

Thank you to our wonderful IKES families, staff and community sponsors for the generosity of your donations and support. We could not do this without YOU!

Spotlight on Kindness! Meet Gretchen Lynn

No Act of Kindness However Small is Ever Wasted ~Aesop

Each month we want to spotlight "acts of kindness." We hope these acts of kindness will begin a ripple effect and that our students will be more excited than ever to choose kindness!

This month's change maker is IKES fourth grader, Gretchen Lynn. This summer Gretchen decided to run a lemonade stand and generously chose to donate all of her profits to our school! With an amazing community such as our Firebirds, it's no surprise that her lemonade stand sold out in just two hours!! Way to go, Gretchen!

Help us spread some love by sharing wonderful acts of kindness that you do or experience! Let's celebrate compassion together and inspire each other to pay it forward! Please send pictures or stories of your acts of kindness to

Six Houses Unite as One!

A brand new school year brings about a time to celebrate IKES Firebirds, new and returning!! Our very first house meeting took place on Friday, August 2nd! For our new Firebird families, here at IKES we have 6 birdhouses. Your child's class will be identified as being a part of one of these birdhouses. During a house meeting, held once a quarter, Firebirds with outstanding character are recognized. This is a wonderful time to highlight students who are soaring above the standard while peers cheer them on!

On Friday, your child's teacher drew the birdhouse for which your child will be a part of this year! Soon, they will receive their house shirt to represent their birdhouse!! To enhance Friday's experience, we had Blooper from the Atlanta Braves join us! It was a wonderful time had by students and staff alike!! Although we have 6 birdhouses, we are one Firebird family!

Spirit Rock Painting:

We want to make this a little easier by listing some of those individuals who offer these services on the Spirit Rock FAQ tab on the IKES PTA website, including Tay's Paints, Art by Amanda and Painted Pebbles. Please click on the Spirit Rock FAQ tab here to find links to their Facebook pages.

**Please remember that these services are not affiliated with IKES PTA and will require a separate, additional payment to the artist. Before you book any paint services, please be sure you have reserved and paid your rock reservation with IKES PTA.
