Kindergarten Enrollment- April 24, 2018 from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
April 24, 2018
4:00pm-6:00pm
Please help Hoover City Schools in spreading the word to parents whose oldest child is just entering kindergarten. Early kindergarten enrollment is very important as the school's administrators plan for next year. Kindergarten numbers prove critical in that they help schools staff accordingly for the upcoming school year.
Hoover City Schools district-wide enrollment date for 2018-2019 kindergarteners and new students is Tuesday, April 24, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. All Hoover City Schools elementary schools will be open that afternoon for families to enroll up and coming kindergarteners and students who will be new to Hoover City Schools for the fall.
A list of schools' addresses/phone numbers can be found on the Hoover City Schools webpage. To determine your school zoning for the upcoming school year, go to the Hoover City Schools Webpage at https://www.hoovercityschools.net/

Girl Scout Book Drive
The month of April at GSES Girl Scout Troop 31269 will be hosting a book drive at Greystone Elementary. We are using cookie profits to help S.T.A.I.R. of Birmingham, which tutors 2nd graders in Birmingham City Schools, in hopes of changing the staggering statistic that 80% of 3rd graders in Birmingham City Schools CANNOT READ.
As you know, children are learning to read through 2nd grade; after 3rd grade, they are reading to learn. So to have 80% of kids just a few miles from us unable to do so is setting our community up for a challenging future - Troop 31269 would like to head that challenge off at the pass by collecting used level 1 & 2 books from students at Greystone in the month of April, with a goal of presenting these to S.T.A.I.R. of Birmingham. Many of the schools they serve are lacking a library for this program.
If you would like to donate some of your gently used books, we will be collecting books in the front of the school. Thank you for helping our Troop reach our goals of community service and helping others!
