NEW AT AISB: AFRITALKS- BY MR. SEAN NEARY
Mr. Sean is one of our High School Social Studies teachers. He is passionate and knowledgeable about African history, a passion that he seeks to pass on to our students, especially the out-going Seniors. He completed one year of each high school and university in South Africa, then received a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship to study history at the University of Namibia. This is perhaps the root of his love for African history.
Mr. Neary has spent much of his working life apart from San Francisco, teaching in South Africa, Denmark, Egypt, Vietnam, and Guinea. He is excited to be begin AFRITALKS with our current 11th and 12th graders this semester. He has structured this course in seminar form and calls for guest speakers from the community to enrich his lessons to enable our students tap into Africa's rich potential, history as well as make contributions for a better Africa.
Below are some of the guest speakers and topics to be presented. If you would like to participate in this wonderful experience, please do not hesitate to contact me.
