Digital Citizenship
in the elementary classroom
What is digital citizenship?
The ability to use technology safely, responsibly, critically, and proactively to contribute to society.
Why should we teach it?
Digital citizenship is the essential first step to becoming media literate in a 21st century. Much like Driver's Education prepares kids to get behind the wheel of a car, digital citizenship prepares them to navigate the information superhighway confidently and safely. The media environment our children are growing up in is new and different from anything any of us have experienced before with rules of the road literally being written as we speak.
