A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRINCIPAL, KEVIN CROFT

Happy Sunday Phelan Parents-

WOW!!! What a week. Phelan elementary had its very first STAAR testing week and I am overwhelming impressed with the student dedication to their learning. Although we will not receive scores until later this summer, I am excited to see what happens because at this point, it is not a lack of effort on the teacher or the student.

The 1st grade field trip to Blessington Farms was a hit! Students were able to see camels, goats, parrots, ride trikes, maneuver tire mountain, slide, use the jumping pad (ginormous inflated trampoline, learn to rope calves, fish, duck races and more. It was a blast! My favorite? The pedal cars!

The 3rd grade crew headed to Long Acres Ranch for their field trip and learned how to collect fish bait, how to cast, learned about Texas native fish, and then were able to fish on their own. Students were catching some of the largest bass I have ever seen, others caught catfish, but no matter what, the students had fun learning from Texas State Parks and Wildlife.

Friday was the Knight Store where students were able to spend their Knight Bucks earned from Reading, Dreambox completion, or demonstrating qualities represented on the Knight's Code.

Overall, last week was a massive success and we have another one on the horizon!

Phelan spirit wear is on sale at the campus! The nice people at Southern Ink Envy brought us inventory this week for immediate purchase. Get yours while it lasts!

Be sure your student is reading 30 minutes EVERY SINGLE NIGHT to earn their Knight Bucks We will visit the Knight store in February. Every night a student can earn 1 knight buck and February will be here before we know it. Reading is THE gateway to all learning.

Parent Parking: DO NOT PARK on the bus driveway road. This is a traffic violation indicated by the painted curbs that read, "No parking."

Parent Parking: Do NOT PARK in the front parking Lot and walk your student to the Phelan doors in the morning drop-off.
