The reins for directing the first year franchise were handed to Denise Taylor on Apr. 19, 1997 as she was named the first head coach of the team.
Pamela McGee
McGee has two children; a daughter, Imani, and a son, JaVale. Imani plays basketball for the University of Texas at Austin. Javale McGee plays with the Denver Nuggets of the National Basketball Association. She is the first WNBA player to have a child play in the NBA. In 2000, she was inducted into the Greater Flint Afro-American Hall of Fame. She lives in Inglewood, California.
Adrienne Goodson
Goodson was named to the team representing the USA at the 1993 World University Games competition in Buffalo, New York. The team had a 6–2 record, wnning the bronze medal. Goodson was the captain of the USA team, and led the team in scoring with 20 points, in the game against Russia. Goodson was the second leading scorer on the USA team, averaging 13.1 points per game over the eight games.

This basketball legend's career has not just been limited to the court. In addition to being an accomplished singer, Hampton has also worked as a plus-sized model landing major campaigns, as well as a role in Spike Lee's 2004 film "She Hate Me." Most recently she was a featured model in Queen Latifah's Queen Collection for Cover Girl.
