Principal's Corner
It is hard to believe we are about to start our 5th week of school! We have almost finished our STAR Assessment/Early Literacy/STAR CBM tests which are a requirement for the Alabama Literacy Act. The Alabama Literacy Act was established to implement steps to improve the reading proficiency of students in K-3 and to ensure those students are able to read at or above grade level by the end of 3rd grade. Research suggests that reading each night for a minimum of 20 minutes can improve reading achievement on standardized tests (like the ACAP). "Starting in kindergarten, if a student reads 20 minutes a day at home, they will hear 1.8 million words per year. They will have read for 851 hours by 6th grade and on standardized tests, they will likely score better than 90% of their peers." So encourage your child to read nightly OR enjoy a good book together!

Virtual Students
Hey Cyber Tiger Parents and Students! Great News! There has been a change to the Virtual Learning Policy- students who wish to return to face-to-face instruction may do so at the beginning of the 2nd Nine Weeks (instead of second semester). If you would like for your child to return to face-to-face instruction, please call the school office (256) 389-2940.
We will be making some changes to our Virtual Instruction soon so please remember to read the announcements page before clicking on the classwork tab. We have added our daily attendance assignment, as well. In order to be counted present, you must select your name from the pull down menu. This is worth a daily grade of 20 points! If you sign in late or not at all, you will be counted absent and lose these extra points.
