Carson Award Recipient
Student Spotlight - Emily Cardenas
Emily Cardenas makes history at JFK by being the first student to obtain acceptance into the University of Southern California. Emily has pushed through different obstacles to get to this outstanding achievement. She was born to immigrant parents who helped guide her as best they could, but it was Emily that took the reigns of her future. Joining the wolf pack in 10th from Norco High School, she balanced both her high school graduations requirements along with intense college classes at NCC. She has been so successful that as she graduates from JFK, she will take to USC four associate degrees. As if this was not hard enough for any teenage student, Emily stayed involved in many extracurricular activities, such as Student Ambassador at NCC, playing the clarinet in the NHS band, and stay active in her church. Emily’s achievements did not stop there as she has recently received numerous awards and scholarship, her most notable award being the Superintendent's Award recognized by the CNUSD. We are genuinely ecstatic for Emily and honored that we could assist such a wonderful young woman in her high school journey. As she leaves us in June, she will move on to USC where work towards her degree of BioChem with an emphasis in Pre-med and with the dedication to education that Emily has shown, we know that Emily will one day be Dr. Cardenas. Congratulations Emily.
Congratulations Jerilyn!
Our very first JFK RIMS AVID scholarship winner is Jerilyn Dickens and she is headed to UC San Diego. The competition is tough. Every year we submit 5% of our JFK AVID senior population to apply for this scholarship and compete with four other counties ( Riverside, Inyo, Mono and San Bernardino) and we are proud to announce that Jerilyn won! We are proud!
We love our Boosters!
Congratulations Ms. DeCasas and Ms. Diaz!
