Week 4 - September 11-15. 2017
English Language Arts
This week we will be reading The Three Little Javelinas. This story is a retelling of The Three Little Pigs set in the American Southwest. Along with comprehension, we will be focusing on parts of speech. We will also compare the story to other versions of the Three Little Pigs.
This week's spelling words have short-o or /ŏ/ sound. This is the vowel sound you hear at the beginning of the word opera.

Science
We will kick off our first science unit of second grade by learning who a scientist is and what they do. We will also discuss safety in science experiments.

Mrs. Wendt is excited to be starting her first year at Chapel Hill Academy. She has taught second grade for the last few years as well as third and fourth grade. She is a native of Fort Worth where she lives with her husband and three children. Mrs. Wendt is a passionate reader and looks forward to an exciting year!
