NEWSLETTER | TERM 4 | WEEK 2 | 20 OCTOBER 2021
The Year Four students visited the Western Australian Museum to examine the First Contact experiences of Aboriginal peoples in Western Australia, investigating the history of encounters with various visitors through industry, trade and colonisation. They examined the artworks, objects and oral histories from the collections.
Term 4 Prayer
Lord, as we complete our final term of 2021,
make us ready, attentive and available to hear you.
Thank You for the gift of being able to rise each day
with the assurance that You walk through it with us.
Thank You for the gifts of creativity and uniqueness,
and the energy to put them to good use.
May all that we are today, all that we try to do today,
may all our encounters, reflections,
even the frustrations and failings all be placed in your hands.
May the work we do and the way we do it, bring new hope, new life, and courage to all we come in contact with. We thank you, Lord.
In Jesus’ loving name, Amen.
Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers
It is wonderful to see the children all well settled and back into the routine of school for this short and busy term.
Volunteers Thank You Morning Tea
Last week on Thursday evening we held on second last P&F meeting for the year and planning for the many events on our term calendar is well underway. Our school would like to thank all those parents and carers who have helped during the year with a special ‘Volunteers Thank You Morning Tea’, on Tuesday 23rd of November. Please save the date. We would be unable to provide the many wonderful social and learning opportunities for our children and families without the help of parent and carer volunteers and we are truly grateful for the time so many of you have given during the year to assist at P&F events and to support the classroom teachers.
Interschool Carnival on Friday
We wish all our interschool participants the very best for the Interschool Carnival on Friday. We know you will represent our school proudly and we can’t wait to see photographs of our interschool team wearing the new shirts sponsored by our P&F for representative sporting events. A very big thank you to Ms Millen for all the hard work she has put into preparing our students so well for this carnival. Go team OLOM!
Reflection
“My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Psalm 91:2
We know that God is our strength when we feel like we can’t take another step. God is our strength when we are filled with doubt and fear. God is our strength to stand firm when everything in us is crying out to give up. God is our strength to bear our responsibilities cheerfully and well, not with bitterness or grumbling resignation. God is our strength to persevere in faith and to rejoice, even as we mourn.
Thank you for the strength and support many of you have shown to those in need in our school community. You are the hands and heart of Christ, present and visible in a very real way.
God bless you all.
Ondine Komnick

The Great Book Swap: Friday 22 October - gold coin donation
The Great Book Swap is a fantastic way to celebrate reading in our local community and raise much-needed funds for remote Indigenous communities. This year, the Indigenous Literacy Foundation’s goal is to raise $350,000 to gift new books to remote communities. The idea is to swap a favourite book in exchange for another, using a gold coin donation.
