"Elite Scholastic Tournament Training" (1000 - 2199 USCF)
Happy Snow Day!
We all understand how difficult this Winter has been :) We finally are expecting snow this weekend so we have decided to cancel Saturdays Quads and & celebrate the snow. If you have already registered for this Saturday, please feel free to use it towards a future week.
Thanks and stay warm,

Game of the Week # 2
[Date "2016.01.16"]
[White "Steven, Xue"]
[Black "Matthew, Kluska"]
[Result "0-1"]
[Annotator "GM Mark Paragua"]
{This is a very instructional game.} 1. e4 e6 2. d4 d5 3. Nd2 Nf6 4. e5 Nfd7 5. Bd3 c5 6. c3 Nc6 7. Ndf3 cxd4 8. cxd4 {This is also possible} f6 (8... Qa5+ 9. Bd2 Qb6 10. Ne2 Qxb2 11. O-O Qb6 12. Rb1 Qd8 13. Ng5 {As you can see in this position black is a one pawn up, but white has more development and space advantage. So I must say white has a compensation for a pawn.}) 9. exf6 Nxf6 10. Nh3 Bb4+ 11. Bd2 O-O 12. O-O Bxd2 (12... Qb6 {I think this is better} 13. Bc3 h6 {a prophylactic move to prevent white's Ng5}) 13. Qxd2 Nh5 {For me this is a good move black is preparing an exchange sacrifice/} 14. Rfe1 Rxf3 $1 15. gxf3 Qh4 16. Bf1 Nxd4 17. Re3 {a very nice touch for black, as you can see in this position, black's pieces are just mobilized especially the knight on d4} e5 $1 18. f4 Bxh3 19. Bxh3 Nxf4 {After this move, the game is over blacks pieces are just dominating the center and in the king's side} 20. Bg2 Qg5 {If} 21. Rg3 {And wins the white's queen on d2} Nfe2+ 0-1
