Great Things Happening in our Classrooms at South Middle School!
Ms. Pope uses Plickers to check for student understanding. Plickers allows teachers to get instant feedback allowing them to make adjustments and clarifications. Ms. Pope asks students to share which answer they chose and explain why they chose that answer. Asking students to share their thought process and reasoning gives great insight to understanding. She validated each student whether they had chosen the correct answer or not and reminded them "It is ok to be wrong." Way to foster growth mindset!
Assessment and Learning: Look Back Strategy
This strategy helps students reflect on what and how they learned. It helps teachers learn what they can do to make students' learning more relevant and effective. Students recount specific examples of things they now know that they didn't know before, describe how they learned them and how this way of learning was effective for them. This strategy supports student reflection as students summarize their learning in two columns. See template here.
