DES Library News
September - Family Edition
Welcome Back Dozier Ducks
For all our new Ducks, my name is Heather Beaver, and I am Dozier's Library Media Specialist. I helped open Dozier in 2016! I have 17 years experience in the library, and this will be my 25th year in education. (I've also taught 2nd grade self-contained, and 6th grade reading.)
This newsletter contains a plethora of information. Please take time to read through it, as you may find answers to many of your questions.
This year is going to be different, but my love of reading and helping students find just the right book has not! Please let me know if I can help you in any way!
Library Classes
Don't panic!! I'll still have story time (Story time is my favorite!!) and library literacy lessons with your kiddos. Our Ducks will also get to check in and out books. All of these activities are going to look different this year; however, we are going to make everything work and do our best to keep everyone safe and healthy.
Purple People Party
I am already in the process of designing a t-shirt (It is ADORABLE!!), and hope to get these ordered in the next few weeks.
As for our party, we are still in holding, but will let you know as soon as a decision has been made.

I will not be able to reach you about your child's prize if an email address is not written legibly.
Teams Library Channel
Some of the resources will include: story times, information on databases, eBooks, Audiobooks, and the library catalog. There will also be information about reading promotions, library lessons, and a way to contact me. I've also included videos showing you "how to" do things such as check out an eBook, put a book on hold, and log in to the library catalog.
Remember, library orientation will take place the first few weeks of in-person learning. Then check out will begin.
If your child is a choice remote learner, please continue to check the Library Channel. Information about Curbside Checkout for your student is coming soon!!
