Principal's Message

Happy Veterans Day and THANK YOU to all who have served! On Tuesday, our 4th grade music program will be in honor of Veterans Day and we look forward to that performance! Please don't forget that 4th graders will need to dress in red, white, and blue for their program.

A family in our district has experienced an unspeakable tragedy and we would like to unite as a district family for them. Please see the flyer below as we welcome all staff and students to wear pjs on Tuesday for the suggested donation of $1 for this family.

*To the parents of 4th grade students, please remember that 4th graders will be going to the middle school during the school day to rehearse for the program and it gets hot on that stage. Therefore, students are welcome to still wear pjs; however, we recommend that our 4th graders do not wear heavy pjs that will make them hot while rehearsing.

National Education Week is next week!

National Education week is an important week that provides us the opportunity to celebrate public education and honor those who make a difference ensuring that every child receives a quality education. This week is different from Teacher Appreciation week because it is designed to honor all professionals who come in contact with our children during the school day— teachers, secretaries, custodial staff, nurses, paras, librarians, lunchroom staff, bus drivers, the principal, counselor, special education team members, etc. We are so lucky to have such an amazing staff that work together to make such a difference in the lives of our children!

As a thank you to all of our awesome teachers and staff, PTO will be “stocking the lounge” with snacks and drinks! And in addition, if you chose to participate, the children may send in something nice for any teacher or staff member throughout the week! Then we’ll end the week on Friday, celebrating how GREat our school is by wearing our school colors!

• Monday (Nov. 14th) - Thursday (Nov. 17th) - Each of these days, the children may bring in a little something special for any teacher or staff member that they would like to honor! Some ideas include: thank you notes, a favorite drink/snack, item to use in the classroom, etc.

Looking for an idea of what the teacher/staff member might need or want? Check out the ‘Teacher/Staff Favorites’ lists on the PTO website! The lists can be found on the right hand side of the GRE PTO page.

• Friday (Nov. 18th): Proud to be an Eagle Day—Wear our school colors and show your pride for being a Glenwood Ridge Eagle!

Thank you so much for helping to make this week so special!

We need cookies and volunteers!

Hi parents! PTO loves to organize cookies for each music program but we need your help! If your child is performing on a certain night, please sign up to bring cookies so parents and students can enjoy them after the show. If you don't have a child performing for that grade level performance, please consider signing up to volunteer to work at the cookie table. Thank you! You can sign up here: Music Programs

From the Library!

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

We want to give a big shout out of thanks to all of you for supporting the GRE Book Fair! We had such a great week and the students absolutely love the book fair. Me too!!

We also loved seeing everyone at the Family Shopping Nights! It was great to see families and it was great to have more space for shopping this year. We had a great fair and will be able to purchase many new books for the library. Also exciting to see new books in students’ hands.

As always, I appreciate your support of the library and student reading! Any questions or concerns, please reach out!

November Eagles Nests activity

For our 2nd time meeting in our Eagles Nests, which will be on November 22, students and staff will have the opportunity to create cards that will be used for gifts for the Joy Meadows Holiday Party. Also for this party, we will be collecting wrapping supplies. We are not asking for parents to go out and purchase anything for this but rather, if you have extra wrapping paper or gift bags still in good condition that you are willing to donate, we would greatly appreciate it. Thank you! For more information about our plan, see flyer below and for more information about what Joy Meadows is, go to www.joymeadows.org to learn more.
