AVID ~ Tips on getting a strong start to the new semester:
Get organized - Getting organized now will help you keep up with your lessons and assignments the whole semester rather than playing catch-up later on. Do this by using a calendar or agenda to create a daily study schedule, and having a system for organizing notes and class resources will help.
Study effectively - Find time to study in a distraction-free environment, and using tools like StayFocused will keep you off of procrastinating websites so that you can focus on class concepts and assignments.
Take (GOOD) notes - Experimenting with different note-taking systems such as Cornell notes and 3-column notes will help you organized information and process it in a meaningful ways.
Reflect on your first semester - ake changes, and don’t get discouraged!
Go Be Amazing and have a great semester!
MRS. SMITH’S TIP OF THE WEEK ~ Welcome to semester 2! Make sure your scholar starts on the right track! Using a weekly and daily calendar will ensure that your scholar stays on pace and is successful in his/her courses. Use the “to do” feature on the dashboard to schedule assignments, learning labs, and other tasks that need to be completed each week. Write these tasks on a large schedule and display it so you and your scholar can see it each day. If you need help creating this schedule, please reach out to your scholar’s homeroom teacher.
