building a community of learners that strive for excellence
Hello Summer ~Farewell Pleasant Street News~ Special Edition
Farewell From Principal Ellis
Dear Families,
As many of you know, I will be leaving the Athol Royalston Regional School District effective June 30th to serve as the Pupil Services Director for the Greenfield Public Schools. This a central office position responsible for special education and student support services to include English Language Learners, nursing, guidance, homeless, and 504 students for the municipal school department. I will be working with a great team both developing and supervising inclusive programs to meet a full range of student needs. The hiring team cited my knowledge and extensive administrative background and my strong, demonstrated commitment to putting students first as factors in their decision. One requirement I had on accepting the position is that I will need time to get out and connect with children in the schools!
As for leaving the Athol Royalston District, I will miss seeing the children each day the most. Being an elementary principal, in a relatively small building, allows you to know each student and their families by name. You have the priviledge of watching children grow, and to be a part of, creating a strong educational foundation. In addition, I will absolutely miss working with exemplary teachers that I have gotten to know over the last five years. As for ARRSD, I feel it is well positioned to move forward in the future with a brand new, state of the art school and in light of the recent awarding of a school redesign grant. It has been a pleasure and honor serving as Principal of Pleasant Street School for the past five years with the distinction of being its final principal. I wish everyone the very best in the future.
Warm regards,
Dianne Ellis
