School News and Updates

Principal Message

Walk and Roll to School Day was a great success! As a school we had about 75% of our students walk or roll to school. This is a great illustration of kids and families doing something positive for the environment and their bodies. We are going to keep the fun going every week with walk and roll on Fridays. Student council will track how many students are walk/rolling each week and we will honor those students who consistently show commitment to this effort throughout the year.

Next Monday we have an assembly called The Human Board Game! It is centered around team building and school spirit. We are asking classes to wear a certain color (shirt, pants, headband, etc) depending on their team. This is optional and not required to participate, it will be fun no matter what! Here is a list of classes and colors:

Part of what I love most about Sequoia is our community and how we come together for fun and play. This is a reminder that we welcome any families that want to chat or play to do so on the large play structure only (called the Vortex) until 3:15 WITH parent supervision. Promptly at 3:15 we do need students to exit the play structure as our after care program uses this area. Also, students are expected to follow the same rules after school as they do during the school day such as: no tag on the turf grass area, going down the slide only and not jumping from the top of the structure. Since this playground is intended for school age children, please be vigilant about toddlers in this area.

We've got a lot happening in the next couple weeks. Please scroll down for more information on several events and activities at Sequoia!

Camp Sequoia Walkathon is Next Friday!

Next Friday is our Camp Sequoia Walk A Thon! With so many new families at Sequoia this year I thought it was important to give some information that will help make it a great day for everyone. Students will receive their Camp Sequoia t-shirts the day before on Oct. 10th, along with meal cards and tickets, if purchased. We will start walking around 1:00pm so feel free to bring lawn chairs and set up under the solar panels to watch the fun. At 2:50, we will stop walking and have all students check in with their teacher at their classrooms to be picked up or to continue walking after school. It's going to be a great day!
