Through the Looking Glass SRES ASP Dance Routine

NEWS FROM MRS. HAZARD, PRINCIPAL

Happy Friday SRES Families!

We had an un-BEE-lievable day with Mr. Cliff Sunflower the Beekeeper! His all-school program was fun, educational, engaging, and interactive - in fact; every person had a role in the hive or the field! Ask your student if they were a member of the queen's court, part of the brood, a nursemaid, a honeycomb maker, a guard, a funeral bee, a drone, a field bee, or a flower. And ask what their job was in the hive or in the field!

Also, HUGE thank you to our parent volunteers who helped to facilitate the science workshop stations that took place throughout the day: Jenn Heidbrink, David Walter, Burleigh Sunflower, Bette Wunderle, Skye Peebles, Shawna Inbar, and Russell Mayhew!

Each student rolled their own beeswax candle! Be sure to look for it in your child's backpack!

THANK YOU, MR. CLIFF THE BEEKEEPER, FOR SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND TALENT WITH SRES!!! YOU'RE THE BEES KNEES!!!

Relocation drill: During our drill on Tuesday, SRES students followed directions the first time and kept their voices off. I was incredibly proud of their behavior during this safety drill!

ASP dancers: Israel Cavanagh, was brought on to work at Saxtons River Elementary Schools After School Programs to work with ASP students on a musical theater dance. Over the past six weeks the SRES ASP students have had fun learning and practicing foundational jazz dance.

Yesterday afternoon/evening, SRES ASP students performed Through The Looking Glass, by the original Broadway cast of Wonderland for the students and the ASP parents respectively. Video of the dance is included above.

Next week:

  • May 1st: Rockingham School Board meeting at 5:30pm
  • May 3rd: 4th-grade field trip to Montpelier (please return permission slips!)

Looking ahead:

  • Weeks of May 8th and 15th: 3rd and 4th graders participate in the new state assessment: VT CAP
  • Week of May 8th: Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week!
  • May 10th: Early Release; 11:45am dismissal
  • May 18th: Incoming K Family Night
  • May 25th: Book Bingo! SAVE THE DATE!

Enjoy the beautiful sunshine today!
