Information for families during school closure
Message from Mrs. Haugen
We are settling into a new routine of which we aren't necessarily fans! The announcement of the extended closure is what we need to do for the safety of our students and families, even if we wish it weren't so.
We miss the kids! We miss their smiling, and sometimes frowning, faces! We miss their ideas and interactions!
Our teachers are working to connect with families and students. You should have received a phone call from your child's teacher this week. If your child has additional supports, you will receive a call from those adults to check-in as well. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to your child's teacher for support.
Teachers are using Google Classroom and google meet to connect with students and allow them to connect with each other. The response has been great and more will be coming online in the next week. We appreciate how our teachers are trying new things in new ways to stay connected with students during this tricky time.
We appreciate all you are doing to support your child/ren at home. We realize you are each dealing with your own challenges at home that often go beyond just having your kids to support. Please know that we are thinking about you all and lifting you up in prayer as you manage challenges. Again, if you have a special need, please reach out to your child's teacher and we will see what we can do to support through our school and district resources.
We miss you!
Sue Haugen, Principal

Grab 'N Go Meals
JC Schools is offering breakfast and lunch to students ages 2-18 during the extended school closure. Beginning April 2, there will be two ways for students to get meals -- Grab 'N Go/Drive-Thru Meals at various school locations or at bus stops. For the bus stop option, eight buses will run routes with multiple stops on Monday-Friday. Bus stops are not school specific, but rather designed regionally to include as many high-need areas as possible. The menu will be the same for Grab 'N Go and Bus Stop meals. Please see the flyer linked below for more information.
- First Student drivers will be delivering meals to stops all across the district at designated times between 10:00AM-1:00PM, MON-FRI.
- Families can pick up meals at ANY bus stop, regardless of where your student attends school. Bus stops are not school specific, but rather designed regionally to include as many high-need areas as possible.
- Grab’N’Go Meals will still be available for pick-up MON-FRI from 11:30AM-1:00PM at the eight school locations (East, North, Pioneer Trail, South, and Thorpe elementary schools; and Lewis & Clark and Thomas Jefferson middle schools).
- Federal regulations require that students must be present in order to obtain meals.
- Meals are available for all students, ages 2-18.
Buddy Packs for the weekend will be available THIS FRI, 4/3 at all Grab’N’Go pick-up locations and at all meal delivery bus stops.
Online Registration for 2020-21 Open!
It's that time of year! Our online registration system is now open for you to register your student for school in the fall.
To begin, log in to your parent portal account here and click on ‘More’ from the menu options on the left side of the screen. From there, select ‘Online Registration’. For parent portal account assistance or trouble-shooting, please email portalhelp@jcschools.us or call the Office of Student Information at 659-3043. Online registration does not always work well on cell phones therefore we recommend using a computer or tablet.
Please see the section(s) of information below that pertain to your family to read more about the perks of registering online.
