CHS Nurse: Ruby Ceniceros
Hello Rangers! I am so proud to be a part of such an amazing school! I have been a nurse for 9 years and started my career at Memorial Hermann in the Texas Medical Center by working in the Heart IMU and Critical Care. After 5 years of critical care, four years in post operative care and in management, I learned my heart belongs in a school. High schoolers are my favorite! I spend a lot of time entertaining my two young kids (6 and 3) and they are a BLAST, when they are not driving me crazy! In my spare time, I like to go for walks outside for fresh air and traveling to random places with my husband. We love doing extreme things we could never do on family vacations with our little ones yet, like zip lining, hiking difficult routes, deep sea fishing, and kayaking. During this "stay at home" time, I have found a new love for my Peloton and for taking my kids on long bike rides. I cannot wait to see what the years have in store for me at CHS. Thank you to the students who have confided in me and spent time in the clinic, you all make me a better nurse, mom, and overall person! See you all soon. xoxo
P.S. Congrats to ALL the AMAZING SENIORS graduating. You all survived 2020, you can do ANYTHING!
Mindfulness Tip of the week
Identify 5 items and/or people in your life that might usually go unappreciated. Ex. your mail carrier, microwave, hair dryer or even your brain!
Reflect: How is your life enhanced because of item? How might life be different without these things? What would your life be like without that person?
The point of this exercise is to simply give thanks and appreciate the seemingly insignificant things in life.
Quote of the Week
Family Corner
Each week we will have a question or task to promote family connectedness. During this time, our social support is so important and can lead to better mental health outcomes.
Discussion: Talk about your favorite memories of spending time together.
Activity: Listen to music. Have every family member pick a favorite song to share with the family and listen together. Don't be afraid to dance :)
