Caleb White Project - Take 2!
The Student Lighthouse Community Service Action team will be sponsoring a hat/gloves/scarf/sock/t-shirt drive running from November 13th through November 17th. We are asking for adult male items as another school is already collecting youth items. This project has been brought to us by a remarkable young man named Caleb White (www.calebwhiteproject.com). We partnered with him last year, and the students at Silver Springs did an outstanding job donating to his cause and helping people in need in the state of Michigan. Please consider picking up one of these items while you begin your holiday shopping. We are hoping that our Silver Springs Community can synergize to make this a successful project. As a reward, the top 3 classes that collect the most items at the end of the drive will receive a special surprise!

Send in yOur Solar Eclipse Glasses!
We are hoping you can give your solar eclipse glasses a second chance. Mrs. Lipshaw’s Reading Scientists are collecting solar eclipse glasses to donate to Astronomers Without Borders. The glasses will be sent to South America and Southern Asia. In 2019, a solar eclipse will happen in those continents. The glasses will be sent to schools and other places where they are needed. If you look at a solar eclipse without these glasses you could burn your eyes. We want to help protect students’ eyes in poorer areas.
Please bring in your glasses on Wednesday, November 15 – Friday, November 17. This is the same days as parent/teacher conferences. A collection box will be in front of the office.
Thank you,
Mrs. Lipshaw’s Reading Scientists

Supporting the The 7 Habits at home!
Habit 1 – Be Proactive – “I’m in Charge of Me”
What this means: Take charge of your own life. Make it happen. Don't wait for someone else to do it.
“I am responsible for me.”
“I do the right thing before I am asked.”
“I do the right thing even when no one is looking.”
“I do not blame others for my actions.”
How can I do this in my life?
1. If you do something wrong, say you are sorry before someone asks you to apologize.
2. When you get mad and want to say something, stop, think, and ask yourself-
Why am I getting so angry? Make a good choice in a good way.
