Please be sure to check the attendance tab in Skyward also to look over your child’s attendance. If you have any dates that your child was marked absent for an appointment but it does not list them as: ALWAYS EXCUSED (MEDICALLY EXCUSED - DOCUMENT); please contact your medical/dental physicians office and have them email an appointment notice to Joy Jackson at or fax it to 262-514-8231.

WGSD Attendance Policy:

Parents can excuse their child for up to 10 days (see policy for acceptable absences).

Documented medical absences do not count towards the 10 day limit. In order for an absence to be documented as a medical absence, families will need to obtain a medical note when taking their child for a medical appointment or when the child is ill and under a doctor’s care. Documentation needs only to include date(s) under medical provider’s care; no confidential medical information is needed. Religious holidays & court appearances are also excused and do not count towards the 10 days.

Student has 5 excused absences: Skyward will automatically generate first parent notice.
Student has 10 excused absences: Skyward will automatically generate a second parent notice which includes attendance goal setting sheet.Possible meeting with school personnel to identify absence reasons and set up attendance goals.
Student reaches 15+ absences: Truancy/Habitual Truancy letter/notice sent home. Meeting with Social Worker, Principal, Parents, and any other pertinent personnel to determine appropriate plan of action and to review attendance goal setting sheet.Continued monitoring of student absences by school office & Social Worker. Possible legal referral in accordance with the District's & county truancy plan(s).
Tardies matter: Students are considered tardy between 8:40-8:50(late) & 3:30-3:40 (early out). Any absence for partial or the whole day counts against your child’s attendance record. Students who arrive even a few minutes late miss out on important classroom events.
