Dog Days of Kindergarten
Weekly News from Mrs. Rose
WEEK OF May 15, 2017
Good Friday KR families!
I can't believe I only have 7 days left with your kiddos! Today, as we talked about it, some of the kids told me they thought they might cry on the last day or after school was out. I told them a little secret--I always do.
On Friday next week, we will have a pizza party for lunch- the pizza is my treat. I would love a couple of volunteers to bring in a fruit or veggie and drinks to round out our meal. If your interested in helping out by sending one of these in, please email me and let me know. Thank you!
All library books were due back today! If your child has any library books at home, please send them to school Monday. We will continue to do literacy library until next Friday.
We had a great time on our field trip on Wednesday. Thank you, thank you, thank you to the parents who went with us for all your help!!!
I will be gone Wednesday morning. I have meetings all morning at the District Office.
We are enjoying our last days together. We are still learning lots...but trying to have some fun along the way. We had lots of fun this week with our ABC Countdown. Don't forget to wear your favorite team on Monday for Team Day and red, white, and blue on Tuesday for USA day.

Summer Tutoring Help
I've had lots of interest in summer help and most of my spots are full. I am offering reading and/or math tutoring/practice this summer on T, W, and Th mornings at your house or your child's daycare. If you are still interested, message me and I can share more details.

This week we read "Baby Brains" and "Look At Us." We talked about all the stuff we have learned this year...just like they did in "Look At Us." We also did a project and wrote about the things we learned this year that have helped get us ready for first grade. We also read "Ruby the Copycat" and worked on making connections with a story.
All students are done writing their animal report. About half the class still has to make their presentation. We hope to finish those early next week and then share them.
Math:
Today we completed our last Step Up to First Grade math lesson!!!! The kiddos were so excited. We have lots to do next week to still keep us busy.
Social Studies:
We continued our study of Japan this week. Hopefully you had an opportunity to watch the video the kiddos made about Japan...absolutely adorable. This video will be used to teach the other K classes about Japan. We also made "sushi" and tried to learn to use chopsticks.
