Voter registration drive!
As part of Black History Month Andrea's focus class will be putting on a voter registration drive. Look out for tables during lunch time outside the cafeteria!
Key issues in every election increasingly relate to the concerns of students, making it essential for students to educate themselves on political issues and take to the polls. Among 18- to 29-year-olds, voter turnout went from 20 percent in 2014 to 36 percent in 2018, the largest percentage point increase for any age group — a 79 percent jump. Get out and vote your voice is important!
Thank you Andrea's focus class for coordination this effort!
Merlo Food Pantry!
You may have noticed the regular food and snacks we have been putting out by our office, this has been coming from a partnership with Al at Holy Trinity. We have cleaned out one of the closets in the school lobby and have also created a food pantry for students and their families. We hope to keep regular snacks and supplies by our office and have a pantry for students and families to get food for evenings, weekends, and holiday breaks. If you have a student who could use some food let us know and we can help them pack a bag. Parents are also welcome to come by. We are keeping inventory and tracking what foods are going and which foods are not as popular.
We are also working to find some regular donations for toiletries. If you have any ideas to help please let us know!
Exciting Student Opportunity!
