Dear West Point Families,
Happy New Year! We hope you enjoyed a wonderful Winter Break with your families. We are excited to welcome our students back to school on Thursday for the start of 3rd term. The new year always brings renewed excitement and commitment for the work we do and the goals we have set. We love the opportunity to teach your wonderful children.
Here are two important things to know for the coming week.

- 2nd Term Report Cards will be available on myDSD on Friday, January 12 at 3:00 p.m.

School Information
3rd Term Brag Tags
Students will be setting new reading and math goals for 3rd term. Please encourage your students to share their goals with you so you can help them be successful. Students who meet their goals will earn paw-shaped brag tags with the fun reading and math images below.
Thank you, also, for encouraging your students to be at school each day. Students with 0-1 absences in January will earn a brag tag for the month.
RUSH to School Attendance Drawing
We would like to thank Coleman Orthodontics for sponsoring their RUSH to SCHOOL attendance contest again this year. Each student who has no lates or absences for 3rd term will have their name put in a drawing. Three names will be drawn. Each winner will receive a $50 gift card to RUSH, and their classmates will each receive a free activity at RUSH.
Lego Mindstorm Club for 5th and 6th Grade Students
School Mission of the Month
This month we are encouraging students to use our Problem Solving Wheel to help them navigate situations on the playground and elsewhere. Each student will get a small copy of the wheel to keep on their desk. We would like them to put a tally in the box next to each strategy they use this month. Students who use a strategy on the problem solving wheel at least 10 times during January will earn a Mission Pawssible sticker. We will highlight one of the strategies each week during our Zoom morning announcements.
The PTA Mission of the Month is to mail a note or picture to someone special.
PTA Information
We are looking for parents who are willing to serve on our PTA Board next year. It is a rewarding experience that makes a huge difference to our students. Many hands make light work, which is especially true with PTA. Please call the office if you would be willing to serve next year. Thank you!
