Semester 2 Writers
Xavier Howes
My name is Xavier Howes, and I am a writer for the Eagles’ Enterprise for this semester. This is my first time writing for the Eagles Enterprise. I play three different sports; football, baseball, and hockey. I live in Glidden, Wisconsin with my family. I am in 8th grade. My interest is mostly hockey because it is about being fit so you can keep up. Hockey is mostly about teamwork and skills. I like to fish with my friends and mess around town with them.
Bryce Maier
My name is Bryce Maier, and I'm writing for the Eagles’ Enterprise this semester. I decided to be in this class to become a better writer. I'm 14 and am in 8th grade this year. This is my second time writing for the Eagles’ Enterprise. Some of the things I like to do are basketball, hunting, fishing, and I like to be outdoors. My favorite subject is math.
Emma Martin
Hello! My name is Emma Martin. I am 13 years old and am in the 8th grade. This is my first time writing for The Eagles’ Enterprise, and I am very excited. I signed up for this class because I love writing and being able to write articles that people can learn from. I have many hobbies. For example, I play girls basketball, and I like to draw. Therefore, my favorite class is art. My favorite food is any kind of pasta. I have two dogs, a bird, a turtle, a rabbit, fish, and snails. Above all, I am happy that I get to write for The Eagles' Enterprise this semester.
Lakota Peissig
My name is Lakota, and I am writing for the Eagles' Enterprise. I have written for this before; in 7th grade for the second semester. I'm in 8th-grade. I'm interested in psychology and rats. I joined this class because I had a lot of fun last year, so why not do it again?
Andria Schwemmer
Hi, my name is Andria Schwemmer, and I just started to write for the Eagles’ Enterprise. I'm in 8th grade and am 13 turning 14 on April 8. The reason I joined Eagles’ Enterprise was to be able to write a lot more than just a few book reports in ELA. I've been told that I was a great writer by my friends. I love to color medallion coloring pages. I also love to draw and read. My favorite movies are superhero movies, and my top 2 are Aqua Man and Thor. I absolutely love spicy food🖤, and I have a sweet tooth, especially for vanilla ice cream! My favorite colors are: black, blue, turquoise, and red. I like that most people love comedy. I hope you will all enjoy my writing. Furthermore, I WILL try to make it as fun as I can. Enjoy!

Social Studies
6th Grade Social Studies
The 6th-grade social studies students learned about the Greeks and how their culture developed. They looked at what Greek contributions were adopted by other civilizations. They also learned about how Greek culture was spread to other cultures. The 6th-grade completed a project about Greek culture and how it was spread to other cultures and civilizations.

7th Grade Geography
Presently the 7th-grade students are studying Australia in geography. Students learned about aboriginal culture and learned about a movie that is also a book called Rabbit Proof Fence. This media is about 3 girls taken to a concentration camp made to assimilate aboriginal people. The story is called Rabbit Proof Fence because in Australia they have a fence used to keep out invasive species by the same name. The fence is supposedly the longest fence in the world. Students were assigned to make an art piece in the naive style of the aboriginal people. They had a rabbit in the middle of their piece. Using 4 colors for the background, students used dots to make circular patterns in the background. The piece had to include at least 3 aboriginal symbols they learned about.

8th Grade U.S. History
Currently, in U.S. History, the 8th-graders are learning about the progressive era and World War I. For the Progressive Era and World War I, they took notes on what happened during that time. They focused on presidents, women’s suffrage, child labor, philanthropy, muckrakers, labor unions, the temperance movement, prohibition, pure food and drug acts, economic policy, and reform issues in the Progressive Era. Students are moving on to put their notes in a digital notebook via Google Slides. The notebook guides students to study certain parts of the Progressive Era. The notebook will be the last project for the Progressive Era.

Honors Choir
On January 20, the Honors Choir went to Eau Claire to perform. They sang “I'll be Your Bridge Over Troubled Water,” “Tell my Father” (tenors and bass only), “Dance on my Heart”(alto and soprano only), '' When the Trumpet Sounds,” and “Amor Vittorioso” (an Italian song). William, a participant, explained, “There were a lot of people there during the concert and a lot of other schools.” It wasn't that scary from my friend William's point of view.

Spelling Bee
The CMS spelling bee was planned for January 24 from 9:15 to 10:15 AM at the North Campus, and grades 5-8 participated. There were around 13 students picked from the grades. They were given a list of words to practice, and these words were in the spelling bee. Each student took a turn spelling in different rounds. If a student spelled a word wrong, they did not move on to the next round. There were three judges and one pronouncer. The winners move onto regionals that are held at CESA 12 in Ashland on February 2. If they win at CESA 12, they move onto the state finals held in Madison. If they win there, they will move to nationals held in Washington D.C. The CMS contest's 1st place winner was Jozlyn Nelson, and she will move onto CESA along with Sam Kaseno who came in second.

Elementary
4YK has been learning about penguins and their different body parts. The kindergarten decorated Christmas trees together, and there was a lot of cooperation with ideas from the kindergarten students being heard by Mrs. Godbee. During Christmas time, the first-grade had fun, Grinch-themed games to play, and listened to Mrs. Hanson read the book The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. The first-grade students also practiced sight words with a game parking lot. This is to help the kids with speed and confidence. Second-graders attended a movie in Park Falls. They were very thankful for Tristen’s mom giving each classmate a coupon for treats. The second-graders also reasoned together with the math number line and the numbers in order down the number line. They also started EL Education Unit 2: Fossils Tell Of Earth’s Changes. The second graders also worked on which different candies melted in hot water. They used observations on the heating and cooling phases.

Glidden Community Learning Center
Students made Christmas tree art with noodles! Students did sticker art with Miss Eden just before winter break. The first and second graders made a fold and print winter reflection scene. They drew their scene on paper and painted with water, and then they painted the mountain landscape. As they were painting and letting it dry, they would fold the paper over to create the reflection. They would repeat the process of painting and folding until they finished the scene.

Volleyball
The 2022 volleyball season has an A and a B team. The A team is for more experienced players and has 10 girls, while the B team is for those who still have improving to do, and has 16 girls. Girls can also move up or down if needed. The volleyball practices are Monday through Friday after school and last until 5:20 PM. Currently, they are working on their basic skills which include serving, passing, and setting. The coach, Mr. Dan Kilmore, has a lot of experience because he has been coaching the volleyball team off and on for 25 years. Angelina BeBeau is a player on the team, and she also plays hockey. She stated, “Playing 2 sports at the same time is pretty physically challenging.” She goes from volleyball practice and then to hockey practice. She also added, “It is pretty exhausting, but it is all worth it.” I am not on the volleyball team myself, but from what I understand, the girls are having a difficult time during the pandemic. The team is having to wear masks at practices and games, having trouble with their transportation, having attendance issues (due to quarantining), and some of the players lack experience because of the season being canceled last year. Despite the pandemic, they are all staying positive and working hard.
