PBIS - Chapman PRIDE Continued
How are students acknowledged for following the behavior expectations?
When students demonstrate appropriate behavior, they may receive:
An Individual PRIDE Shoutout and Class PRIDE Shoutout. Each time a student receives an individual PRIDE Shoutout, they receive a ticket. Tickets are drawn weekly for individual prizes. Every 5th class PRIDE Shoutout students earn a Golden Mustang and spin the wheel for a classroom reward!
How do teachers manage behavior?
Teachers utilize proactive strategies in order to encourage appropriate behavior and to prevent or avoid problem behaviors from occurring. These strategies include reviewing behavior expectations, establishing classroom routines and procedures, pre-correcting students before infractions occur, and establishing positive relationships with students.
When behavior infractions do occur, staff are encouraged to use a continuum of responses, including, but not limited to:
Restorative conversations
Reteach/modeling of desired behavior
Loss of privilege
Parent contact
Written apology
The flowchart below illustrates the process followed by our teachers when addressing behavior infractions. Behaviors that may result in an office discipline referral are also defined in the chart below.
How can parents get involved?
Parents are welcome and encouraged to assist with PBIS implementation at Chapman. Some ways parents can get involved are:
Serve as a representative on the PBIS team
Assist with events
Discuss school-wide expectations with your student at home
Assist with developing community partnerships.
Please let us know if you are interested in assisting with PBIS in any way!
How do I get help if my child is struggling with behavior?
Despite our best efforts, students sometimes engage in negative behavior. If your student has received one or more office discipline referrals, and you are concerned about his/her behavior, please contact one of the staff members listed below. They are eager to help and are equipped to provide the necessary support for your student to be successful.

Strongsville Families,
I am beyond excited to announce that Strongsville is participating in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS), “Students of the Year” campaign for 2022. I was nominated to lead this challenge by my high school Athletic Director and the Principal of my high school. I feel honored and so grateful to be a part of this amazing fundraising experience with LLS! I have put together a team of support to help raise money and awareness for this great cause – to bring an end to cancer!
Our Team name is “Stand Up In Strongsville”. Student of the Year program is a 7 week challenge between other high school students in surrounding cities in Northern Ohio to raise the most amount of money for a great cause – Finding a cure for cancer! Our competition ends on March 19th, 2022. During this 7 week challenge, my team and I are determined to reach our goal of $60,000 and raise even more! (All donations are tax deductible!
