Principal's Message
Dear University Elementary Families,
Maker World is fast approaching! This must see event is this Thursday, Dec. 12th. Each class will have their class project based learning (PBL) products on display. This is a main event here at University Elementary and it is our sincere hope that all families will make it to this event so that their students can do the presentation element of PBL. It is very important that students have the opportunity to put into words their learning experience, the trials, errors and celebrations. This is also an opportunity for families considering registering their student/s at our school to come learn about the PBL process that our students experience. If you know anyone considering University Elementary please invite them to join us from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
Families will receive one ticket per classroom they visit. For every two tickets students can visit one of our extra curricular activities in the Maker Room (A6) supported by the Sonoma County Office of Education or Lego building supported by Play-Well Teknologies in A7. We will also have Star Lab set up in our MU for families to enjoy. The Star Lab allows families to be under a simulated night sky where Ms. K, our PE teacher will tell stories and/or facts about the constellations. Please sign-up outside the MU for a time slot to enter the Star Lab before exploring classrooms. This will allow us to provide this opportunity to as many families as possible during the two hour time frame. Time slots will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.
PTA will be selling pizza by the slice and drinks. Food will be served on a first come, first serve basis. Come early if you plan to grab a bite!
Our lifeskill this month is organization. Our discussions will revolve around the importance of putting things away so that we can take good care of them and also be able to find them when needed. We will also discuss the importance of planning for success in all we do by making lists, keeping calendars, and keeping our materials in an orderly way.
Winter Break begins on Friday, Dec. 19th and runs through Jan. 3rd.
Best wishes for a warm and wonderful holiday season,
Charlotte Straub - Principal

Baked goods should be brought in the day of the bake sale. Left over baked goods will be available for sale at Maker Night. In the past we have made excellent money to support our garden classes. It is our hope that you will support our school by supporting this event in any way that you can.
PTA Movie Night
PTA will sponsor a Family Fun Movie Night on Wednesday, December 18th. Have an early dinner, please do not bring anything that can spill onto the floor where people are sitting. Then put on some comfortable clothing (PJ's are acceptable), bring your blanket and a pillow and we will cozy down and watch The Grinch. The movie will start promptly at 6:00pm.
