Mobile Apps for the Classroom
Some apps that can be useful in the classroom!
Edmodo
What is it?
How I would use it?
I would use edmodo to post about events and alerts. I will also use it to connect with the parents so they can see what the class is doing. I will use it to post assignments, have discussions and for assessment.
Grammar Jammers Primary Edition
Grammar Jammer uses catchy songs and animations to help elementary students learn grammar. Each activity unlocks a quiz and gives you a reward for the next activity.
How I would use it?
I would use it in a group setting as a class. We would listen to the songs and animations and take the quiz together. Then the students can use the app individually.
Rocket Math
Rocket Math is a fun game where you have to answer different math questions like multiplication, addition, subtraction, and division. You answer math questions in order to make money and finish your mission.
How I would use it?
I would use this app in my math class. This will be a great enhancement for their learning and it will increase engagement. Students will also be able to use the app when they are home to practice their skills.
Google Maps
Google Maps allows you to explore new city's and countries. You can browse popular land marks and tour city's with street view.
How I would use it?
I would use google apps in a social studies classroom to see the different landmarks, and places that we talk about in class.
Video Science
Video Science has a library of short videos of science experiments. The videos show what materials are needs and how to recreate experiments.
How I would use it?
I would have the students watch a video of an experiment so they are prepared for the next day. Than we would do the experiment in the classroom and we would have a discussion on what they learned and what they saw.
