1. Class Activity: Look at President Truman's daily appointments and discuss how he performed the eight distinct roles of the President in one day: commander-in-chief, chief of state, chief executive, chief administrator, chief diplomat, chief citizen, chief legislator, and party leader.
- Discuss the complexity of the job of president. How do the various roles played by the president contradict and overlap? Which presidential role do you believe is the most important? Why?
2. Assignment: Read Federalist 70 & answer the Guided Reading Questions.
3. Class Discussion: Compare Federalist 70 to Antifederalist 70
