February News from Settle Music
Exciting times!
National Learn to Play Day (Settle Music, 16th March)
Each year Music Shops across the country open their doors and offer free lessons on a variety of instruments. The lessons are aimed at people who have never played but would like to have a go or who used to play and are considering taking it up again. We had such fun last year and are really looking forward to being involved again and making this event bigger and better than ever.
Our plans are coming together and so far we have arranged for teachers who can cover violin, viola, cello, keyboard/piano, drums, ukulele and guitar (with more being added all the time). Suppliers will be here with new instruments to try out. There will also be entertainment, a prize draw (with a Brunswick Concert Ukulele as the top prize) and goody-bags/discount vouchers.
So if you've ever wanted to have a go or used to play and would like to start again get in touch with Settle Music to book your slot - via email settlemusic@gmail.com, via the telephone 01729 825838 (or 07880 783783 with voicemail) or call into the shop.
Spotlighting interesting instruments:
Emerald X7-OS
The carbon fibre construction and off-set sound hole gives the X7-OS a warm full tone while still giving great note distinction. It’s now a very versatile guitar that strums sweet full chords and has great bass presence while still having plenty in the other frequencies to balance it out.
Cigar box guitars by Ben Ellison
Ben is working constantly to improve his range of cigar box guitars and the models that we have in the shop have different specifications and finishes. This presents an interesting choice for the customer.
PP Cajón
This outstanding value Cajón (with its carry bag) is the latest addition to our percusion section. Finished in a warm varnish this wooden Cajón comes with a snare and soundhole rosette. It's ideal for acoustic gigs or jam sessions where a full kit would be too excessive.
Changes at Settle Music
We've been open for two years now and, like all businesses, we've been reviewing how we operate. We have great plans to diversify and improve the business and we are going to make some changes to the shop that will make that possible.
Firstly we are going to introduce winter opening hours - we'll be open from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Although we will be closed on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays we will still be able to process orders that we receive e.g. posted through the door, via email (settlemusic@gmail.com) or by telephone (07880 783783).
We are also pleased that Jen Haines, a local musician and teacher (viola, violin and piano) will be in the shop on Thursdays and Fridays, which increases the breadth of musical experience we can call upon.
