County Fair Pre-Entry Due July 5

County Fair Pre-Entry letters and forms went out in the mail today! Watch your mail for this important information. Reminder - all pre-entry forms are due July 5!

The pre-entry form must be completed and returned on time in order to bring your 4-H exhibits to county fair. Exhibits not listed on the Pre-Fair Entry form will NOT be accepted at check-in. This means no late entries.

4-H Foodstand Sign-Up

We’re starting to think about Fair prep and that brings 4-H Foodstand signup! Again this year, we are making things easier for you by using the online signup system we used last year - go to the link below, pick a spot, put in your name(s) and hit submit.

As usual, sign up early to get your favorite spot before they fill up. Please sign up by July 5. It is expected that at least one person from every family works at least one shift!

REMINDER: PLEASE WEAR CLOSED TOE SHOES AND A HAT OF SOME KIND.

The 4-H Foodstand is a major fundraiser for the York County 4-H Program. The money raised will go directly to York County 4-Hers through scholarships, workshops and other learning opportunities.

County Fair Shirts Are Here!

Thanks to a generous donation, each enrolled 4-H member (including Clover Kids) will receive one FREE 4-H shirt again this year. Youth and adult sizes are available - no need to pre-order. These t-shirts will be the official show uniform for all 4-H events at county fair.

Shirts are now available for pick at the Extension Office. Additional shirts may be purchased for $5 each during fair week.

4-H'ers Receive FREE Admission to Fair Events

NEW THIS YEAR! All York County 4-H members will receive free admission to the Figure 8 Races and Read Southall Band Concert. Wear your RED, 2019 4-H shirt to gain entry into these events.

Plant Science ID Contests

In case you didn't know, there are 4-H ID contests at the State Fair (horticulture, Weed and grass, tree, and insect) where youth 10 and older can compete. Jenny has Weed books and flashcards in her office for any families who don’t have them if your youth are interested. This is the list of weeds the youth would be learning that corresponds to the book pages (1-75): https://unl.app.box.com/s/k6ghub1pgzrs1nyz8ntss1cbeh1ph4vn

If you’d like to see what a contest is like, June 27th is a free plant ID contest in Columbus at the Fairgrounds from 12:15-4 p.m. There’s no charge and carpooling could be an option. Clover kids can attend too! Our County Fair Contest day will be July 16th.
