Tustin Adult School Offers Classes for Fall Semester
The Tustin Unified School District’s Adult Education Center is offering a variety of classes for adults during the fall semester, beginning Tuesday, Sept. 4. The classes include morning and evening English as a Second Language (ESL), Citizenship Preparation, Diploma, GED and HiSET preparation, and Basic Skills (reading, writing and math.) In addition, beginning and intermediate computer classes (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Creating a Free Website) are also offered on weeknights and Saturdays. All of the classes are free and held at various locations in Tustin. For most programs, students can start at any time. Registration is conducted in the classroom during the hours of the class. Students interested in the diploma, GED or HiSET programs should call the office to schedule an appointment with a guidance counselor. Early registration for fall classes will take place for new and continuing students at either 9 a.m. or 5 p.m. on August 22 and 27 at the Adult Education Office. Adult students only need to attend one of the dates and times to register. Brochures are available at the Tustin Adult Education Office on the Hillview High School campus, 1151 San Juan St., as well as the District Administration Center, 300 South C St., and all TUSD school offices. For more information or to schedule a counseling appointment, call (714) 730-7395 or visit the Tustin Adult School Web site at www.TustinAdultSchool.org.
Growth Mindset Parent Night: Thursday, September 6th at 6pm
The Growth Mindset Parent Night, Presented By Dr. Blake Brandes, is 45 minute presentation followed by 15 minutes of Q&A, and it gives parents and guardians practical ways to support their students with the Growth Mindset. There are many easy things parents can do to set their students up for success by using the Growth Mindset, from “praising the process, not the person,” to “using the Power of Yet” and helping students transfer the Growth Mindset from one part of their life (like sports or video games) to school. We hope you can join us for this fun and informational evening.
DROP OFF & SAFETY WARNING—LET’S KEEP OUR KIDS SAFE
Driving too fast through the parking lot and dropping your child off on Vanderlip puts your child, other parents, students, staff members, and you (the driver) in an extremely dangerous situation. Please drive safely and do not drop your child off on Vanderlip unless you are parked along the curb. When dropping your child off, please keep a single line in the FIRSTparking lot, No cars should be stopped or left unattended. If you need to park, please only park in available spots There is absolutely no parking in the staff lot directly in front of the school, in red zones or red curbed areas. Having the motor running and/or a family member waiting in the car does not make it legal. DO NOT PARK OR DRIVE IN THE BUS LANE, which is in the staff lot.
