Brentwood Elementary Mission Statement
~Achievement~Actions~Attitudes~
1st Grade Transportation Day
A Note from the Principal...
Greetings Parents:
Transportation Day:
Overheard – “Mrs. Boyer, you said this would be a day I would never forget! You were RIGHT!” Transportation Day is one of the most exciting days that our first grade students participate in. Police cars, loading machines, trash haulers, go-carts, fire engines, high-lift trucks, moving vans and a helicopter were among the many other vehicles of TRANSPORTATION that we had a Brentwood this morning! Students were able to climb in, sit in the seat, honk the horn, steer it and see how it works. This was indeed a very exciting day for our students. They may forget the tests they take, which ARE important but they will not forget Transportation Day. We were pleased to be joined by the first grade students from Clarks Creek Elementary School. We are grateful to Mrs. Dayna Cade for making the arrangements for all of this to happen. Check out the pictures.
Fourth Grade Science Fair:
Burgers, Boom, Pumpkin Seeds and Heartbeat Connection were just a few of the hot topics of research that our fourth grade students participated in with their Science Fair Projects. Students chose a problem developed a hypothesis, designed procedures, established controls, identified variables, gathered data, found results and finally, came to a conclusion. These are the established aspects of the science fair projects and a great way to have students demonstrate their understanding of the scientific process. Thank you to all the parents who persevered with your children and helped at home. This is a perfect example of parental involvement. Congratulations to your children and you!
Parent-Teacher Conferences:
Parent-teacher conferences will be from 1:00 to 8:00 October 22, 2015. We are scheduling these with a new online scheduling program that allows you to schedule the time you need that is open. Obviously, the earlier you access the program and schedule your conference, the ore likely you are to get the preferred time. You will receive an email on Monday that details how to schedule your parent-teacher conference. This email will come directly from your child’s teacher. To schedule multiple children, you will need to access each of their teachers’ calendar.
New Staff:
Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Ana Romo to our staff. Mrs. Romo will be working with our students who are acquiring English as a new language. She has ten years of experience teaching English as a new language. She will be working with our students daily during the afternoons.
Sincerely,
Mr. Underwood

United Way SPIRIT WEEK at Brentwood Next Week
The Plainfield community School Family will, once again this year, be participating in the United Way of Central Indiana fundraising efforts. Brentwood, as always, is proud to participate. Each year, Brentwood’s parents, students and staff rise to the occasion of raising funds to help support needy families in Central Indiana, including Hendricks County. This is an excellent opportunity for us to teach our children about the importance of giving to others in through charitable donations.
We are able to accomplish this during a fun week of showing our BW spirit. Brentwood Spirit Week is set for October 5th – 9th. During this week, students will be allowed to participate in the activity fo the day for just $1 for each day of participation. Keep reading to finds out what the themed days are for this upcoming week of fun and spirit here at Brentwood:
