Highlights From Last Week....

Our first week of kindergarten was great! We have already learned a lot! Our main focus was to learn how to behave like a kindergartener, but we also learned how to read by looking at the pictures in the book! In Math, we learned to look for things that were exactly alike and how to turn and talk to our neighbor! We started stations in both Math and Literacy. We learned the letter a, b, c, d, e, and f. We also focused on our names this week. We bingo dobbed our names and made Chicka trees with our names. We are sure your children were exhausted when they got home, we know we were!

A peek at our learning this week...

This week we will be very busy!

In Literacy we will continue to focus on recognizing our letters. This week will learn about the letters g, h, i, j, k, l, m, n, o, and p. We will learn the high frequency words I and can. We will also work on identifying numbers of words in a sentence and recognizing rhymes. Our Essential question this week is "Who is in your family?" We are reading books and listening stories to compare the text.

In Math, we will work on classifying items based on their attributes. We will answer questions like, why do things look different and how are they the same? We will also be learning what a number looks like and attach a quantity to the number.

In Social Studies, we will learn about friendship and learn ways to become good friends ourselves!

Book Orders:

I will be placing the book orders September 14th. Please either return your orders to me or order online. Thank you for supporting our classroom!

Reading at Home:

Great job working with your child on their reading! The more you read, the better their vocabulary will be and the more they will be able to understand stories! Keep up the great work!!

Pete and Mystery Can will start their journeys home this week. The kids will LOVE hearing the clues and reading about Pete's adventures. The children will be practicing their speaking and listening skills through these activities. It is so much fun! Thank you for your participation.

Notes from Ms. Berube

We are off to a fabulous, fun learning start of the school year! Everyone worked hard learning our routines and getting use to classroom rules. We talked about our names, what makes us special, and also made some friends in the classroom.

Thank you to everyone who brought in supplies for our classroom! It really is a big help and is greatly appreciated!

I hope many can make our ACES open house on Tuesday, September 11th from 5:30-7pm!

The school fundraisers that were sent home are due back by September 25th.

Good job filling out the reading logs! Reading with your child goes a long way.

Thank you for your support,

Ms. Berube

Notes from Mrs. Webb

Hello Families!

Wow! I cannot believe how much your children have done in just 4 days! They have really worked hard to establish a routine, make friends, and learn the rules about school! Our school year is off to a great start!

I am so thankful for all of the wonderful supplies you have sent in! All of your donations are greatly appreciated.

Our Scholastic Book Order is due on Friday, September 21st. Scholastic books are a great way to help increase your child's library at home. If you ever want to give these books as gifts just let me know and I will sneak them home to you somehow! Please make checks payable to "SCHOLASTIC". Please feel free to try out the on-line ordering also. If you have any questions just let me know.

ACES Open House is Tuesday, September 11th from 5:30-7:00. Come visit your child's classroom and see how much we have already begun to do in school.

The first PTO fundraiser was sent home this past week. They are due back to school by September 25th.

I will be sending home a rough draft of the "Classroom Tree" Monday. I ask that you look over the information that is on it and if any changes need to be made let me know. I will send home a final copy of it after any changes have been made. If you do not receive this Classroom Tree it is because I did not receive your information back. If you do want your contact information shared with the class please let me know and I will add your information.

Have a great week!

Mrs. Webb

Notes from Mrs. Goldthwaite

We are off and running! Your children are great listeners. We have already established our classroom rules and routines. They are meeting new friends and learning why we are all special.

A big SHOUT OUT to all of you who have donated classroom supplies. At this time I would say we are all set. When the supplies of klorox wipes and tissues get down, I will sent out another wish list.

I will sending out our scholastic book orders on September 14th. I did have a request out on FB to my family and friends. It was to sponsor a student for $9. I have had a great response and if you would like to help or participate it would be much appreciated. My goal is to have every Kindergarten at ACES to get a book each month. The checks can be written out to Scholastic Books.

I will be sending home a rough draft of the "Friendship Tree". Please look it over and send me any corrections. I will then send home Friday the revised one. Thank you

On Tuesday we have our OPEN house. This is a great time for your child to walk you around and to see everything they have done in the classroom.

Thank you for all the returned home work and reading logs being filled out.

Thank you

Notes from Mrs. Marcoux

Your children have done such a great job in introducing themselves, contributing to classroom rules and discussions, and learning about life at ACES.

Thank you so very much for all the classroom supplies, we appreciate it more than you know!

We are hoping you can make it to the ACES open house on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7:30. The children are anxious to show you our classroom, what they are learning and what they have done.

Thank you again for all you do, we hope to see you on Tuesday!
