Reading – at least 20 minutes nightly - initial in the box each day your child reads for at least 20 minutes. Also, remember to have them fillout their reading log
Math – December Monthly Math Booklet - Days 15-20 - we will remove the December book on Friday, December 19
Spelling - Complete 3 spelling activities - remember to study every night
*Fluency passages or list - your child's teacher may send additional homework to help with building reading fluency. At this time it is not sent home with every student. We will begin this with entire grade level after winter break.
*Homework Math Pages - you may have noticed that we do not complete all of the pages of the math packets that come home. The last page of the packet is actually homework pages. We are not sending these home as mandatory assignments. However, they are great practice for your child. Your child may complete the pages and earn 5 starbucks for practicing math skills at home.
Wall of Dreams
We are beginning the Wall of Dreams in preparation for College Week. Each week we will share information to the students about colleges. The students can earn 20 starbucks and a prize if they take time to research the college for the week. The college for this week is:
University of Kansas
The students can look up University of Kansas and write a 2nd grade essay about the college. Here are some of the things they can write about:
- What type of college is it?
- What can you study there?
- What classes would you take in order to earn your degree in your chosen area of study?
- Information about the college - How much would it cost for out-of-state tuition compared to going to a Texas college.
