The Husky Update May 21, 2020
Information for our Highline Community Elementary School
From Principal Sanchez-Hart
Hello Highline Families,
Wow! What a year we have had! I am so proud of each of our students, teachers, and families for the perseverance and dedication to learning everyone has shown during these historic events. In just a short time, we have all become better at working with technology and working from home. While you have access to the district computers this summer, please continue to use them to practice math skills and to read in our virtual databases like RazKids, OverDrive, and MyOn. In addition to staying curious about learning, also take time to get away from screens by playing outside, doing yard work, and cooking as a family.
Remote Learning presented us with celebrations and opportunities for growth. Our teachers worked together to plan and create lessons that were delivered in an asynchronous format. This new teaching practice required us to think differently about proficiency ratings for the third term. The Cherry Creek School District designated the code RL to indicate that Remote Learning was implemented for the third term for all elementary schools. We did not want your student’s proficiency ratings to be negatively impacted, so when you read your child’s progress report, you will see RL listed for all content areas. Teachers will provide information regarding strengths and areas for future growth in the comments section. Progress reports will be mailed directly to families and delivered the week of June 1st.
While our future at this time is uncertain, I can promise you the Highline teachers and staff are here for you, especially once we can return to some form of teaching and learning in the fall. We have thoroughly enjoyed teaching your students and collaborating with families throughout the school year to ensure excellence for all of our students. Please stay connected to us by checking our Highline Community website and reaching out to the office, if you have any questions you need answered. Until we next see each other, stay healthy and stay strong!
