Where and When?
The Red River campaign began in 1874. The battles were fought along the Red River in present New Mexico. 3,000 men fought in the first battle along the river. Union and the Confederacy fought along the banks.
What was the Red River Campaign?
The red river campaign was the Union's attempt to capture as much land as possible. They tried to retrive all the land along the Red River. The Union failed to retrive the land since the Confederacy army protected the land. The Union never reached Texas wich was their goal.
