We are so excited to welcome our Warriors back on September 6th. I am thrilled with how our faculty and staff have worked to prepare the building, their classrooms and your lessons so that we can have a great school year. Please read through this newsletter carefully as there is a lot of information to assist you and your family with starting school. As always, we will be very active on our social media pages so be sure to give us a follow to see the great things going on at HDGMSHS. Have a great Labor Day weekend, Get some rest and we will see you bright and early on Tuesday.

Any student who wishes to drive to school and park on campus from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm must obtain a parking permit. Permits are not transferrable; only the person whom the permit has been issued can use the permit. Parking on campus is privilege afforded to students of senior and junior status. Only students with a valid driver’s license may apply for a permit. Maryland Law allows for vehicles parking on school property to be searched in accordance with applicable search and seizure laws and regulations. (Legal Reference: Education Article 7-308, Annotated code of Maryland COMAR 13A.08.01.14).
HCPS and HDG Middle/High School assumes no liability for any damages to vehicles or their contents while on school property. Any incident should be reported to the police and school administration in writing. Permits will be issued on a prioritized basis as listed:
· Dual enrolled/ Part-time students
· School sponsors sports and activities (seniors followed by juniors)
· Boundary exceptions
To apply for a parking permit, go to the school cash online website to print and complete the application. Application must be fully completed, signed by a parent/student, and accompany a copy of the student’s driver license and vehicle registration card and be turned into the Lead Secretary, Ms. Janouris, in the main office for processing. Please contact Ms. Janouris with questions or concerns Sonya.Janouris@hcps.org.
- All clothing must cover the chest, midriff (no crop tops), pelvic/groin area and buttocks down to upper thigh with opaque (not see through) material.
- No clothing or personal articles can depict:
- profanity, violence, drugs, alcohol, or other illegal harmful products, contain sexually suggestive material, reveal undergarments (no bralettes), contain language of symbols that demean or offend and identifiable group or infringe on the rights of others; including symbols of hate (both current and historic).
- No hats or hoods can be worn on the head (including hoods of hooded sweatshirts, beanies, etc.).
- Spiked jewelry and chains are not permitted.
- Students are NOT permitted to carry bookbags (including clear bags) around during the school day.
- Bookbags must be stored in lockers.
- Minimal exceptions may be made. See your administrator if necessary.
*String bags are permitted in school for the purpose of carrying a student’s laptop and charger only.
PARENTS/GUARDIANS: use MySchoolBucks to load money on student accounts to pay for lunch.
MEALS ARE NOT FREE FOR THE UPCOMING SCHOOL YEAR!
If you apply and are approved for free and/or reduced meals this school year, you will automatically receive the student device protection plan. *Please note that you must complete a free and/or reduced-cost meals application each school year. Prior applications do not apply.*
Tickets for sporting events need to be purchased through GoFan!
PSAT Registration
Students will have the opportunity to register for the PSAT using Total Registration Online (TRO); the same platform used to manage AP and PSAT testing in all high schools last school year.
The platform will open on August 31, 2022. Cost for the PSAT will be $20.00
Any student who is FARMS-eligible will register for the assessment in TRO. FARMS-eligible tests will be paid for through the Office of Accountability.
