Weekly Update
Hello Fort High Families,
It was great to see all the new parents at our first Parent Council meeting. We are looking forward to another positive year here at Fort High with all our stakeholders. We successfully completed our first Worker Bee Wednesday with the 81 class from Southpointe. All the students got a quick tour of Fort High and were able to experience two different option classes that Fort High offers. We look forward to when all the students become a part of the Fort High family.
All Fort High students took part in the Terry Fox run today, it was great to see all staff and students supporting such an important cause. Enjoy the weekend!!
Save the Date: October 6th, 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm
EIPS Fort Saskatchewan schools will be hosting our inaugural Community Engagement Night on October 6th, from 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm at Fort High. This will be an opportunity for families from ALL EIPS schools in Fort Saskatchewan to take in a free supper, games and important information from our community partners. We look forward to seeing you all there!

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation - September 30, 2022

Staff and students are encouraged to wear orange shirts to commemorate the solemn day of remembrance of the tragic history and ongoing impacts of the residential school system.
Career Pathways News: September 2022
The September 2022 Career Pathways News is now available.
What is Career Pathways? Career Pathways is a Division model designed to foster the growth of every student by supporting their journey from early learning through high school completion and beyond. From kindergarten through to Grade 12, students develop awareness of self and discover possibilities for life beyond school through competency-focused experiences. Students will have the opportunity to learn about themselves, explore multiple career possibilities, set goals and make plans.
Why is Career Pathways important? Career Pathways is designed to help students develop a curiosity about the world around them, develop a personal inventory of strengths and interests, and learn how to build upon them. Through purposeful, student-centred activities and experiences connected to curricular outcomes, teachers in all grades will encourage students to develop the transferable skills required for success in the future.
The Career Pathways model encourages student, caregiver and teacher conversations to learn about self-reflection, goal setting and creating a personal skills inventory. Career Pathways fosters an environment where parents and guardians, as well as the local community, are seen as partners in education. Opportunities to build and demonstrate competencies essential for work and life is the foundation for Career Pathways planning in the classroom.
University of Alberta’s Faculty of Engineering & Mentorship Program - Apply until September 30, 2022
With the 2022/2023 school year underway, we wanted to take this opportunity to highlight the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Engineering Fem+ Mentorship Program and its call for applications that is open until September 30th, 2022.
Do you know a student who loves mathematics and science, but may not be considering engineering, are unsure about it, or could benefit from an engineering student mentor? Please forward this flexible online or in-person opportunity to them! We know that your recommendation means a lot to students, especially those from under-represented gender groups in engineering and we appreciate your support in forwarding this no cost opportunity to them.
The Fem+ Engineering Mentorship Program is a 7-month program for high school students who are women, feminine-presenting or identifying, and non-binary, that are interested in exploring all the possibilities within the STEM fields, including engineering! With FEM+ students will:
· Be mentored by a current student in the engineering program
· See what university is like, what engineering is like, and whether it is good fit
· Meet others interested in engineering through Discord Q&As and social events
Please share the attached brochure! Students can also apply directly at this link.
Feel free to contact us with any questions at femprog@ualberta.ca. We look forward to connecting with you soon.
Kind Regards,
