Bio and Early Life
John Hancock was a wealthy man who was born on January 12,1737 in Braintree Massachusetts and died on October 8, 1793. He was raised by a wealthy uncle after his mother and father died. During his education, he graduated from Harvard College in 1754. After he graduate he went to work at his uncle firm, which is call Thomas Hancock + Company, the leading firm in Boston. Later on he inherited the company in 1764 at the age of 27.
Role played in the Revolution
John Hancock was a Patriot Leader in the American Revolution. His role was a president of the 2nd Continental Congress who led 5,000 men into war. His belief in the American Revolution led the patriots to win the war and the Declaration of independence.
Important Accomplishments
One of John Hancock important accomplishes that Massachusetts elections for governor took place every year and Hancock was reelected 5 years in a row. When Massachusetts voted to accept the new constitution, but his hopes of ruling the country never came to pass.
Role played after the Revolution
After the war he became the governor for Massachusetts. He was always remembered for signing the declaration of independence he lived in Massachusetts until he died.
