Conferences
The LAF Family Conferences are a chance for parents, students and teachers to meet and talk about student progress and goals for the school year. The Family Conference is divided into two parts. During the student-led discussions, the students will share their reading, writing, and math problem-solving goals. They will also discuss their work habits and how they have adjusted to the new school year. The families will then meet with the teachers for a traditional conference.
The Lafayette teachers have to meet with over 40 parents during conferences. Please be mindful of your arrival time. Your lateness will impact your conference time and other families' conferences. Please leave extra time for traveling and parking.
Our conferences are scheduled for the first week of December, Monday - Friday, December 2nd - 6th. All of these days will be early dismissal days for the students (12:45 pm). The conferences on December 4th will run from 3:00 - 5:00. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday conferences run from 1:30 - 3:30.
Scheduling Your Conference
This Monday, November 4th, you will be able to sign onto the Parent Portal and schedule your Family Conference after the school day begins (8:45 a.m.).
The teachers' desire to meet as a team presented a unique situation for scheduling within the Parent Portal. For this reason, all of the conferences will be scheduled under the Homeroom Math Teacher Names. You will not see any Homeroom English Language Arts Teachers' names, Special Education or Basic Skills Teachers' names in the Parent Portal under the Conferences Tab.
Family Conferences are not a requirement. If you have already been in contact with your child's teacher this year, you are not required to participate in Family Conferences. Your child will bring home their goals and an overview of the year if you choose not to schedule a conference.
As noted above, the Conferences Tab will be visible on Monday, November 4th after 8:45 a.m. You will only see one teacher name under the Conferences Tab.
CHatham Inclusion Preschool (CHIP) - OPEN HOUSE
