THE STRENGTH OF THE WOLF IS ITS PACK
January 14, 2022
How do you occupy 457 students when you can’t go outside? Our teachers have many thoughtful ways to honor their age while still embedding the learning. As parents you know the routine. Allowing kids to be creative, release their energy, and interact with their peers warms the hearts, bodies, and minds at school.
Kind Regards,
Principal Brennan
Keeping Students Busy
When I walked into first grade the student's thinking was PALPABLE. Little brains solving all sorts of mathematical situations! | Students practice motion, strength, and coordination using the PE “Railyard Fitness" | In order to address student’s greatest area of need, teachers meet with small groups. |

A Note From The Nurse
Nurse Tina visited all classrooms on Thursday, January 13th and explained the importance of wearing a mask at all times while in the school building. Instruction included how to properly wear masks above the nose in order to protect themselves, and also their friends, teachers and staff here at school. Disposable masks should only be worn once and then tossed at the end of the day. Fabric masks should only be worn once and then washed before they are worn again.
Please help us by reminding your child(ren) the importance of following this policy at school. The students have several mask breaks throughout the school day and may request a mask break from any staff member.
The new CDC/KCHD/D303 guidelines state that anyone who tests positive or is a close contact to a positive Covid case must quarantine/isolate for 5 full calendar days from the onset of symptoms or quarantine/isolate 5 full calendars days from the positive test date if asymptomatic.

Let's Get To Know...

Mrs. Stephanie Brennan
Principal
Mrs. Brennan: The moments when a teacher gets lost in the classroom! I am using a bit of humor here, but this describes the powerful end to lessons taught well. Teachers begin instruction modeling and then transition students to be activators of their own knowledge. Students start activities and then the teacher’s role switches from leading to coach. The teacher is among the students, prompting, helping and questioning to extend their learning. When the teacher moves from the front of the class to among the students, the class virtually hums with activity.
If you could pass on any wisdom to your students, what would you share?
Mrs. Brennan: To relish their uniqueness, be open to all experiences, and not be defeated by mistakes. There is so much to discover, explore, and enjoy in our world. I want students to be enabled and encouraged to seek and enjoy life! The book Maybe by Kobi Yamada is a terrific reinforcement of this concept.
What would the students be surprised to find out about you?
Mrs. Brennan: I have shared with the students that I love to go sledding! If we get enough snow soon, don’t be surprised if you see me and my friends on the hills!
Some Friendly Reminders about Arrival and Dismissal

Arrival
Our front door closes at 8:00 so we can all start our day together with morning routines. If you are dropping off your student, please arrive between 7:45 and 7:55. When students are late they feel out of place and they are missing valuable connections with their whole school community.
Arrival and Dismissal
When using the drop off lane, please drive all the way forward so that we can load/unload as many cars as possible. Please stay in your car. If you wish to get out and load your child, you are welcome to park in the lot. By following this procedure, we can expedite everyone’s waiting times in the car lane.(click here for more information)
