MARCH MADNESS
Science
There are scientific principles involved in every basketball shot. Trajectory, force, gravity, energy, motion, air pressure, percentages—injecting a little bit of math and science into March Madness fun can be as simple as asking the right questions when you are watching the playoffs and then testing out a few of those ideas.
The Science Buddies website has a Nothing But Net: The Science of Shooting Hoops lesson available. Students determine if the ball's starting position for shooting a basketball affects a player's shooting percentage. In this project, you'll measure shooting percentage when players shoot baskets from chest height, chin height, and over the head.
DragonFly TV Kids Do Science - BASKETBALL video (5:47 min)
Designing a Sneaker for basketball lesson from eGFI

Librarians can get in on the March Madness too!
The librarian can run a list of the most checked out books from your school for your Tournament of Books! Check out the link to see more details
