Overview
My topic is S.E. Hinton, the author of The Outsiders. She wrote the book in 1967 about two groups of teenage boys, the East side, poor and nicknamed the "greasers". While the west side was rich and nicknamed the "socials". The book is about friend ship, loyalty and rivalry. The kids on each side work with their groups to hurt and bring diwn the other side. Everyone in the book goes through hard times and losses.
Hinton wrote The outsiders and many other books to entertain young and old readers. S.E. Hinton was born on July 22, 1948 in Tulsa Oklahoma. She writes to and about young adults and children. She has gotten many different awards and is very successful. Her real name is Susan Eloise Hinton but she thought that boys would not read her books if they knew she was a girl. Her most popular book is the outsiders.
