2021-22 School Year Calendar: Five Full Days
LOSD will be five full days in person in the fall!
The first day of school for all students in grades K-5, 6 and 9 will be on Monday, Aug. 30. The first day of school for students in grades 7-8 and 10-12 will be Tuesday, Aug. 31.
Sign Up for Vaccine Clinic in LO
The City of Lake Oswego and LOSD are hosting a COVID-19 vaccine clinic for families and students age 12 and older. The first dose of Pfizer will be given on June 9, 16, and 30 and the second dose on July 7, 14, and 21, all dates at Lakeridge Middle School.
Appointments are being scheduled through the Clackamas County website. https://www.clackamas.us/coronavirus/vaccine
New Exec. Dir. of Curriculum and Instruction
We are pleased to announce we have hired LaKeyshua Washington as the executive director of curriculum and instruction for Lake Oswego School District. She will officially start on July 1, 2021.
Recognized as a dynamic educational leader, LaKeyshuais skilled at facilitating the strategic development and implementation of equitable and enriching programs that support academic achievement and social-emotional growth for all students. In her role with LOSD, she will serve in the Office of the Superintendent, responsible for curriculum and instructional program development and technology.
LaKeyshua brings with her more than 23 years of extensive experience as an administrator and educator. She is currently serving as the director of secondary teaching and learning for Gresham-Barlow School District in Oregon. Prior to that position, she served as a principal, assistant principal, and science teacher for secondary and elementary-level schools in Los Angeles and Compton, California.
University of Oregon is where LaKeyshua earned both her Master’s of Science and Bachelor’s of Science degrees in Psychology. She also holds several administrative, teaching and instructional certifications
LaKeyshua will fill the position made available by Dr. Jennifer Schiele, who will be serving as the superintendent of Lake Oswego School District.

We are eager to show off the new Lakeridge Middle School to our incoming students, district families, and community residents, and clearly you are eager, too. Tour times are filling up fast -- reserve your tour today!

The self-guided tours (with special recordings accessed from your smartphone) start every 2 minutes to allow for ample spacing in the building. Tours of the building will also be available to incoming students and their families in August, if these dates do not work for your family.
Watch the Virtual Company Variety Show
Sharing a little joy and connection with our community. Today Lakeridge released its first-ever virtual Company variety show, "Keeping You Company." Please click here to enjoy the amazing talents of our students lead by choir director Bill Campbell.
Look for Summer Specials Sign Ups
Registration for LOSD Summer Specials will open next week on Community School website by clicking here. The afternoon enrichment programs will be offered in-person July 5 - Aug. 6.
Each opportunity runs for one week and will be held at either Palisades, River Grove, or Oak Creek. We are able to provide these in-person opportunities for enrichment at a free or nearly free cost thanks to a Summer Enrichment Grant from the Oregon Department of Education.
Summer Special classes will feature fun, high-quality third-party instructors in science, robotics, engineering, art, and world languages, as well as activity classes in leadership, movement, writing, acting, and more!

Recreation & Aquatic Center Open House
Lake Oswego is designing a new Recreation and Aquatic Center and the city and school district want your feedback! Learn more about the plans for the new center and help refine designs through our online open house. Click here for virtual event, open until June 4.
Seeking Students for Youth Advisory Boards
Our high school students are invited to serve on the Lake Oswego Youth Advisory Boards to gain real-world experience serving on an advisory committee or board. In addition to giving back to our community, this is something students can site on college applications, job resumes, or count towards volunteer credits for school.
The City Council will be appointing one youth member to six advisory boards, including the Historic Resources Advisory Board, Library Advisory Board, Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Advisory Board, Transportation Advisory Board, and two youth members to the Sustainability Advisory Board and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advisory Board. For more information on becoming a voting member of an advisory board, please complete the following requirements:
- Submit an application on the City website: http://www.ci.oswego.or.us/boc/boards-commissions-vacancies
- Submit a letter of recommendation from one faculty member at the school
Only current juniors and sophomores who are residents of the City of Lake Oswego should apply. Applications will be accepted until May 31 on the City website. Interviews will be in mid-June, with term dates running from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022.

Hunger Fighters Food Pantry: Open and Hiring
The pantry will be open all summer for contactless curbside pickup every Saturday from 1-2:30 p.m.. Visit the website for more info.www.hungerfightersoregon.org

Please Verify Your Student's Information
- Ensuring that schools have accurate information to reach parents and other contacts in both emergency and non-emergency situations. Verification is important even if your address or contact information has not changed over the past year because the school may have incorrect information from a previous year.
- Confirming parent email addresses for Google Classroom and other applications to participate in your student's learning.
- Enabling distribution of key information in the district's K-12 Family Handbook and Technology Agreement.

The LOSD Community School is offering virtual enrichment programs and activities for students of all ages including culinary, STEM, arts, language, and athletics.
SafeOregon
Parents who have concerns about a student’s well-being are encouraged to reach out to their principal, and to maintain strong lines of communication and partnership between students, families, staff, and other resources.
SafeOregon is also an effective way to report a tip regarding safety threats or potential acts of violence to our students or schools.
(Students should also be aware that intentionally providing a false report is a serious offense.)
