Parent Tiger Talk
June 2019
Happy July!
The start of the new school year is just around the corner. This is an exciting time for students, teachers, and parents. As we celebrate the 4th of July, it is a time to truly appreciate the gift we receive as Americans through our public education system.
Our School Board continues to set a strong course for the district by welcoming over 80 students into the Odyssey Academy of Virtual Learning and by approving a year of planning in preparation for the opening of the Barlow Park Charter School. Both schools will focus on a very personalized approach to learning for students. The Board also lifted the cap on the number of sections at Journey Charter which will allow for more parents to have their choice of schools.
I am proud that Ripon Area School District continues to innovate based on feedback from our parents and staff as we work to meet the changing needs of our families. This is a balancing act as the needs of our students change throughout their time in the district. By continuing to work together we can realize our district vision as one of Wisconsin’s finest districts fostering excellence for all through innovation.
Have a wonderfully restful and safe rest of summer,
Mary Whitrock

June Board Brief
BPES Charter Funding Accepted
The attached press release provides information on the Board’s recent acceptance of $800,000 over five years for the Barlow Park Charter School. The DPI grant will provide funding for collaboration and training opportunities as staff establish the framework for a very personalized competency based/play-based elementary school.
Online Registration Coming Soon
The district will be implementing a new Online Registration process beginning with the 19-20 school year. This is exciting news for all of us as it will streamline the registration process and make things so much easier for families (mainly reducing the amount of paperwork you need to complete for each child)! Watch for more information to come the beginning of July, but now would be a good time to verify you have access to your Parent Portal login and password as the process is completed through the Parent Portal for all families. The online registration link will appear in your Parent Portal Infinite Campus account. If you need assistance on this process, we will have videos on the website under the Parent's tab. Please contact Britnie Meyer at (920) 748-4600 or at meyerb@ripon.k12.wi.us if you are unsure of your login information.
New families with a child in preschool with receive their login information and Parent Portal directions with their placement letters in the mail.
