Lincoln Middle School Update
Lincoln Community,
We are excited to welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year. As the new school year is approaching, we wanted to provide some vital information for you to be aware of. Lincoln's new Assistant Principals, Mrs. DiVito and Mr. Jonas, and I are excited to get school started welcoming all Lions, both returning and new to Lincoln. We are here for you should you need anything, and we invite you to reach out if there is any way we can support you.
Below is information about accessing schedules, upcoming events, and more. Please take a moment to look through this update. We will send another update before the first day of school containing information about attendance, cell phone rules for students, where to go on the first day of school, locker information, new staff members, etc.
We hope you can soak up the last couple of weeks of summer!
In partnership,
Eric Larson, Laena DiVito, Jason Jonas

Locks and Lockers
Students are not required to change their clothes for their Physical Education class, provided they are dressed appropriately to participate. Should a student wish to change, their teacher would assign them a lock within the locker room, and the student would need an additional lock for that locker.
Where Does My Child Enter the Building?
Please review the map below to identify where your child will enter the building. The yellow arrows indicate the traffic pattern for drop-off and pick-up. Staff supervision begins at 7:30, and the doors open at 7:38 in the morning.
6th grade at Door 19 (Candota lot circled in blue)
7th grade at Door 21 (Candota lot circled in green)
8th grade at Door 2 (Lincoln front turnaround, near the West gym, circled in red)
Bus riders will enter by the bus turnaround: Door 7 or 8
Door 1, the main entrance, is only used for dropping off and picking up items and late arrivals.

Cross Country | Fall 2023
Lincoln Cross Country Website: Click Here
Start of the Season: August 21
Coaches: Steve Shaffer(sshaffer@d57.org) and Kelly Bailey (kbailey@d57.org). Our philosophy is to have “wow” moments through having fun and being part of a team while challenging yourself through the demands of cross country.
Physical: A current physical (physicals are good for 13 months) must be on file with the nurse to join cross country. (Here is a link to the Physical Form for your reference.) Please direct all questions and concerns to Lincoln's school nurse, Susan Smith (ssmith@d57.org). Please turn in your current physical no later than August 11 to start the season on August 21.
The calendar on the website gives an idea of the season, but changes are inevitable. Practices are from 3 - 4. Currently, there are ten full-team meets and two state series (sectional and state) that are limited to the varsity boys & girls groups.
Many of the team members juggle cross country with other activities/sports. Our goal is to work with team members so they can enjoy all their interests. Communication is the key to making this happen.
Feel free to contact Coaches Shaffer and Bailey with questions and concerns.
